What is quilting?

Quilting, in short, means a sewing method for joining two or more materials to create one. The most common variant of quilting is the three-layer one, where we have an upper layer, batting, and a lower layer.

Different types of fabrics are usually used to achieve the desired effect. The top layer (face fabric) is the visible one and is usually emphasized to be made of beautiful material according to the purpose for which it will be used. The middle layer in most cases is padding, which serves as insulation. For the bottom layer (backing layer), different materials are used again, depending on the purpose.

Quilting is a method used to strengthen the fabric used in the making of most often pillows, lightweight blankets, fabrics, upholstery for mattresses, clothing, and many others.
